It's often that when you are offensive and aggresive in the Lord's work, you will undoubtedly become offensive as well. It is very difficult to impossible to preach the whole truth without offending someone. Also, it is important to understand that as Christian leaders and teachers, you cannot afford to compromise the truth in order of satisfy a minority of people or a majority of people who are offended by what we teach.
In a recent service, we had a young lady respond to the invitation after the message and she indicated that she was highly offended by the message that was brought and additionally she wanted to speak with the ministers and elders following the services. Certainly, she was granted the opportunity to voice her dissension and disapproval. I gave her audience and spoke with her and talked with her about the scriptures. She was unfortunately disgruntled and discontented even after we finished our conversation. It is very important to us members of the Church of Christ, particularly here at Sugar Creek, that we always have a sensitive ear to listen to those who are in dissention when we speak. Also, it is our policy to answer questions and respond to objections that individuals have concerning bible questions. As you know, a few weeks ago we traveled over to Victory Christian Center and there we attempted to ask questions in the bible class and were told by the minister that they did not receive questions.
Our policy is quite different, the church of Christ has nothing to hide. We have every desire to understand and to give understanding to all those who seek it. We are not here to compromise. We are not here to satisfy. We are not here to please anyone but our Lord Jesus. We realize that there are a lot of people who are struggling with their faith and some who believe that they are saved and finding out they are not saved is a traumatic moment. But just for the record, we will always preach the one true gospel and the one true church. God bless you all.
