"Think Your Way into a Better Way of Feeling" Phillipians 4:6-8
DEPRESSION is the most common and perhaps the oldest known emotional problem. It can be caused by many things: an event in our lives, the death of a loved one, the loss of a special relationship, divorce, loss or change of job, relocation, illness, etc. Depression can be normal when you can connect it to a circumstance, but when it lasts a long time or gets in the way of your carrying out normal activities, you should seek professional help. If you have the 'blues', you can help yourself:
Concentrate on doing things that you do well, in order to build your self-esteem. Change the way you think.
Engage in physical activity of some kind.
Talk your feelings over with someone you trust (counselor/physician).
Focus your energy on someone besides yourself. Visit someone who is ill or lonely.
Break up your routine. Take a different route to work. Eat something new for lunch at a different time and place than usual. Take a vacation if you can.
List as many of your personal accomplishments as you can.
Work at making your physical appearance as nice as possible.
Most importantly, PRAY!
Rather than feeling, fussing, and fearing when faced with a challenge you can't seem to handle, teach yourself to reach . . for God's help!
