If we conducted a survey and tried to determine the spiritual IQ of each member of the congregation, what would your IQ be? If the range was for 300 points, you would be a biblical scholar. If 100 points or less you would be a spiritual moron. Which one would you be based on the following criteria? In one week's time, you would be measured and assigned points for each class that you attend, each script that you memorize, each service that you participate in. If you were scored 10 points for each class that you participate in a week's time how many points would you receive for that? If you received an additional 10 points for every time you came to worship, how many points would you receive from that? If you received another 10 points for every time you taught a bible class, how many points would you receive for that? If you received an additional 10 points for every time you called a new convert, how many points would you receive for that? If you received 10 points for every sick person that you visited in a week, how many would you receive for that? If you received 2 points for everyday that you read the bible, how many points would you tally in a week? If you received 5 points for everyday in a week that you mention Christ to a neighbor or a co-worker, how many points would you receive for that?
When you tally up all of your points for all the greatest works that you've performed for the Lord, if your tally is less than 100 then you are a spiritual moron. If you have less than 200 tally, you are a borderline Christian. If you have a 200-250 tally you are a fairly good Christian. If you have a 300-400 tally or more you are a very good Christian. Tally up your score to see what kind of spiritual IQ you possess. If you find that your IQ is very low and that you have very little tally why not try to improve your spiritual IQ in the coming weeks. Why not make it your business to be involved in the spiritual works, doing good deeds, coming to bible class, participating in worship, offering help to those who are in need, calling those who are sick and delinquent, checking on new members, witnessing for Jesus everyday, praying frequently. When you increase your spiritual IQ, you will also increase your strength and power. There are feelings of wholeness that come from doing righteousness and righteous works. Remember that your IQ cannot be accurately measured unless you also measure in the negative things that you do to take away from the good; such as gossipping, lying, cheating, stealing, immorality, failure to forgive others, holding on to resentments, being hateful. If any of these are a part of your week, for each one subtract 20 points and maybe you'll find how really weak you are. Here's hoping that all of us will increase our spiritual IQ and will be stronger and more faithful in the months to come. We can conduct a diligent effort to do this. God bless you and you know I love you.
