What do you mean when you say that you are a conscientious Christian? Conscientious means you are governed by your spiritual conscience. There are certain things that God does not specifically mandate in terms of 'black' or 'white' as written by the prophets and the biblical letters. But those who are conscientious as Christians have a desire to do what is right and appropriate and organized. For instance, the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:40, "do all things decently and in order." God does not itemize every little thing that we are to do. For instance, come to classes on time. It also says that we ought to know how to behave ourselves in the house of the Lord. Paul told Timothy to preach that to the church. So be in class on time, be conscientious enough to come forward to sit as close to the front as possible, and make sure that your children get to their classes for Sunday school on time and that they are orderly in their classes. Make sure that your kids are in the right place at the right time. Make sure they use the bathroom before they come into the worship services. Being conscientious means, that as a teacher, you would be at class no less than 15 minutes prior to class time and that you have your materials organized and ready to disseminate. Also, being conscientious means being reliable when it comes to working in the church. Brethren, when you are given an assignment, it is vital that you carry out that assignment and be responsible and accountable for your position. If you are asked to lead the singing or lead the prayer or work in any capacity in the church that you be in place on time and prepared. Certainly give advance, ample warning to your director or your ministry leaders if you are not going to be present or available for your duty.
Being a conscientious Christian means taking your work seriously. As seriously as though you are getting paid for it, as seriously as though it meant your career and your future because we are working for the Lord. The greatest opportunity and the greatest posture in the world is working for the Lord. It is time for us to start acting like we love God and to be consistent in our activities in serving Him. God bless you!
